Fashion Meets Interiors: Oscars 2019 Edition

· Get the Look, Mean It. ·

February 27, 2019

Pinks, velvets, and sparkles went flying at the 91st Academy Awards red carpet last Sunday and there’s no doubt that it’s happening on the Interiors front, as well. See what we mean in this ‘Fashion Meets Interiors’ and share with us your own Interior pairings to these outstanding celebrity ensembles.

(Left) JAB Anstoetz ‘Harley’ fabric (Right) Actress Glenn Close

We already expected Glenn Close to be dazzling, but Close was one of the topmost shimmery stars in her gold Carolina Herrera gown on this year’s red carpet. The JAB Anstoetz ‘Harley’ fabric shown above compliments Close’s look. Shop JAB Anstoetz in Suite 201 of the D&D Building.

(Left) Actor Chadwick Boseman (Right) Romo’s Black Edition Collection- ‘Mizumi’

The Givenchy Couture tuxedo worn by Chadwick Boseman and Romo’s, Black Edition Collection- ‘Mizumi’  are strikingly correlated, encapsulating the same stormy and smoky appeal. Shop Romo fabrics in Suite C-162 at DCOTA, suite B309/B310 at the PDC in Thomas Leavin, and suite 808 at the DDB.

Poggenpohl + SEGMENTO Y Collection

(Left) Melissa McCarthy wearing Brandon Maxwell (Right) Billy Porter wearing a Christian Seriato tuxedo dress

There were some serious black-and-white red carpet ensembles, especially ones with texture. Melissa McCarthy and Billy Porter were two of our favorite black-and-white schemes, resembling the black-and-white Poggenpohl kitchen + SEGMENTO Y kitchen collection. Shop the Poggenpohl Showroom at DCOTA, Suite C-138.

(Left) Actress Leticia Wright (Right) Stroheim’s ‘Tranquil Leaves’

Actress Leticia Wright wore a Dior Haute Couture dress and her elegance rocked us. Mimic her delicate leaf pattern in your home with Stroheim’s ‘Tranquil Leaves’ fabric. Shop Stroheim fabrics in Fabricut at the DDB, suite 915, DCH suite 3022, and PDC suite B470.

(Left) Actor and comedian John Mulaney with wife Annamarie Tendler (Right) ‘Acanthus’ tapestry in Indigo/mineral for Style Library

John Mulaney was seen wearing this moody botanical Pal Zileri suit, which made us think of Morris & Co.’s moody prints, available at Style Library, suite 409 at the DDB and suite 4019 in Culp Associates at the DCH. See more like Mulaney’s here.

(Left) Weitzner’s ‘Refractions’ (Right) Actress Queen Latifa

Queen Latifa wore a sleek Michael Costello dress with an underlying geometric print coming through, a print similar to Weitzner’s ‘Refractions’ textile. Shop Weitzner in Donghia DCOTA, suite C-250, Donghia PDC, suite B624, and Pollack|Weitzner DDB suite 1722.

(Left) Actress and comedian Maya Rudolph (Right) ‘Hiyoku’ in Peony for Designers Guild’s Kaori Collection

Maya Rudolph was living floral dreams in a Giambattista Valli gown. Its uncanny match is Designer Guild’s ‘Hiyoku’ print.

(Left) Actress Danai Gurira (Right) Forbes and Lomax Invisible Lightswitch

The more gold, the merrier! Danai Gurira foiled any potential haters in this gold foil Brock Collection dress with layered gold accessories. It reminded us of Forbes and Lomax’s Invisible Lightswitch with a brass toggle, which always adds a regal touch to Interiors. Shop Forbes and Lomax at the DDB, suite 1502.

(Left) Costume designer Sandy Powell (Right) Dedar Milan’s ‘Short-Cuts’ fabric

Nominated for best costume design for The Favourite and Mary Poppins Returns, Sandy Powell stood out in a modern black-and-white suit on the red carpet. See Dedar Milano’s version of this eclectic striped print. Shop Dedar Milano fabrics at the DDB, suite 1009 and in George Cameron Nash at the DCH, suite 140.

(Left) Actor Stephan James (Right) Butterfly carpet by Rugs by Zhaleh

Stephan James should have been standing on this ‘Butterfly’ carpet by Rugs by Zhaleh to match the darker burnt red tones of his custom Etro velvet tux! Shop Rugs by Zhaleh at DCOTA, suite C-170.

(Left) Janus Et Cie’s Vino Lounge chair (Right) Actress Lisa Bonet wearing Fendi Couture

Actors Lisa Bonet and Jason Mamoa were matching in Karl Lagerfeld and blush pink. Bonet’s dress was from Lagerfeld’s last collection with Fendi and Lagerfeld himself designed Mamoa’s custom suit. Bonet’s cream meshing detail reflects a related woven pattern in Janus et Cie’s Vino Chair lounge. Shop Janus et Cie at DCOTA, suite A-123 and at the PDC, suite B146/B193.

(Left) Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton (Right) ‘Broadway’ diamond print by Jane Churchill for the Cowtan & Tout Atmosphere IV Collection

Diamonds are forever. Nominated for best supporting actress in The Favourite, Emma Stone embodied this classic theme with an edgy twist in her Louis Vuitton dress. The ‘Broadway’ diamond print by Jane Churchill for Cowtan & Tout is a complementary Interiors option. Jane Churchill is available at Cowtan & Tout in suite 1022 of the DDB, suite B467 of PDC,  suite B-254 of DCOTA.

(Left) Chris Evans (Right) Romo’s Forenza Prussian Blue Velvet

Chris Evans met his match with Romo’s Forenza Prussian blue velvet, encapsulating the nearly identical unique color and luminescence in his tux on Oscar night. Shop Romo at Romo DCOTA suite C-162, Romo DDB suite 808, PDC Thomas Leavin B309/310, and Culp Associates DCH suite 4018.

(Left) Amandla Stenberg (Right) Wired Lighting’s ‘Cascada Spiral’ chandelier

Amandla Stenberg turned heads at her first Oscars red carpet. Stenberg wore a Miu Miu dress, which glistens and falls similarly to the ‘Cascada Spiral‘ by Wired Custom Lighting. Shop Wired Custom Lighting at the DDB, suite 105.

(Left) Television host Maria Menounos (Right) Romo’s Black Edition Collection- ‘Xanthina’

Ending on a bright note with Maria Menounos wearing a catching yellow Celia Kritharioti dress with white detail, just like Romo’s, Black Edition Collection- ‘Xanthina’ shown on the sofa above. Shop Romo at Romo DCOTA suite C-162, Romo DDB suite 808, PDC Thomas Lavin B309/310, and Culp Associates DCH suite 4018.
