“At the Palace of Versailles, the Sun King was bored. One day he had the vision of a flash of lightning, new and magical, other than his own sunlight illuminating his Hall of Mirrors. He dreamed of it, and even made it his coat of arms. A few centuries later, Flos and Baccarat made it reality, combining the highest technology to their timeless know-how. And History became modern.”

Whether mythological or methodological, the new BON JOUR VERSAILLES lighting collection ascended via a powerful collaboration. Baccarat, home to the most beautiful crystal gifts in a red box, and Flos an Italian producer of innovative lighting strategies share storied histories and now, a fresh collection with internationally renowned creator, Philippe Starck.

The heir to an earlier BON JOUR lamp collaboration between Flos and Philippe Starck, and the VERSAILLES candleholder created by Baccarat, the BON JOUR VERSAILLES collection reveals timeless lines with unfailing lightness and empirical modernity that evoke our collective memory of the past, present and future.

The BON JOUR VERSAILLES lamp sits on top of a finely sculpted transparent crystal (or polymethacrylate) stand and “solves the paradox between industrial precision and artisanal know-how, between aristocracy and democracy, science and poetry” according to Flos.

The light’s lines are reminiscent of the Maison Baccarat most iconic pieces. Crowned with a chrome plate, the lamp features a warm glow that’s cool-to-the-touch through it’s advanced LED Edge Lighting technology developed by Flos.

LED Edge Lighting by Flos is a revolution in LED innovation; combining the best efficiency, light intensity and emission magnitude performances with homogeneousness and maximum visual comfort. In BON JOUR VERSAILLES, the lighting component is a pattern of etched dots encircled by an array of LEDs, refracting light uniformly in all directions.

“The biggest differentiator is that previously with LEDs you could see the strip, which gave a dotted illusion. The new version creates a seamless look,” Wilkin Cabrera, Baccarat’s marketing supervisor said.

The elegant lampshade in pleated fabric also allows for the diffusion of a warm and organic light and creates a magical transparency when the lamp, bathed in light, appears to come alive from the inside.

The lamp is offered in two sizes, a miniature version and a more generous model. Additionally, there are two settings to be applied according to one’s taste. One is a more ‘coup de coeur’ lamp to be used as a night-light and the other is intended to decorate a pedestal or end table.

Last week, Baccarat celebrated the launch of the new collection in their D&D showroom, Suite 1005, lighting up the night with sips and snacks for over 140 guests! Illuminate your 2018, with this new collaborative collection.
